By pioneering a new approach to medicine creation, we believe the best ideas of science can rapidly become the best medicines for patients.The RoleWe're seeking a Senior Python Engineer to join our Precision Medicine Tech group. Play an active role in shaping the future of drug discovery in groundbreaking new ways by leveraging the power of tens of millions of high-resolution images in combination with our cutting edge in-house machine learning capabilities.You will help to build an innovative, highly usable and robust web-based research platform. The platform is powered by our pharmacoscopy image analysis pipeline which allows us to practise precision medicine and find the right drug for the right patient. We're seeking someone who is passionate about technology and has a keen eye on fostering a team culture that thrives on cutting edge solutions.Please note, this is a hybrid role so regular travel is required to our Vienna office (approximately 2-3 days per week in Floridsdorf 1210), with flexibility to work from home in Austria the remaining time. We are a flexible working organisation and we are willing to discuss other arrangements that would provide similar contact time with the team (eg. being office-based one week and then working from home the following week).You will have the opportunity to:
  • Develop cutting edge, cloud native tools which will be used by a variety of customers including internal and external researchers.
  • Work at the forefront of precision medicine, using your software development skills to allow our in-house ML pipeline to shine.
  • Take the lead on solving highly impactful problems and drive design decisions, taking an active role in pushing projects forward.
  • Work in a collaborative and supportive agile team environment, working with a diverse range of colleagues.
  • Gain new knowledge of the latest novel technologies and share your expertise with others.
Requirements:Essential skills:
  • BSc in Computer Science or related field and/or 5+ years of experience as a Python working on enterprise-level customer-facing projects.
  • High proficiency in crafting and designing high quality robust cloud application architectures.
  • Deep knowledge of Python's core packages and third party libraries (e.g. numpy, pandas, scipy, plotly).
  • Direct experience with stakeholders, and ability to play an active role in a diverse, cross-functional agile development team.
  • Highly motivated attitude, with an ownership mindset and enthusiastic approach to innovating and creative problem solving.
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal). English is our working language, so please submit your CV in English.
Desirable skills:
  • Experience with Python web frameworks (FastAPI/Django) and management of relational databases (eg. PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Knowledge of cloud native tools e.g distributed computing and microservices.
  • Experience in machine learning or image processing.
  • Following high coding standards.
