About the team we are recruiting toWe value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.Coventry Alternative Provision (CAP), part of the Education Entitlement and Enrichment Service at Coventry City Council strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.The team is made up of dedicated individuals all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools. The Coventry Alternative Provision team works to improve the education outcomes for young people that are disengaged from education with the focus being improving their life chances and sustaining positive progression. The service actively work in partnership with a range of local Training Providers and Coventry's Further Education establishments.What is the job role?The Quality Monitoring Officer will take a key role in ensuring the effective coordination and monitoring of Coventry Alternative Provision (CAP) provision.You will play a lead role in monitoring the quality of Alternative Provision in line with the CAP Quality Review process and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. Ensuring that students are receiving personalised support and that their needs are being met when accessing education through Coventry Alternative Provision.You will lead in the monitoring of all data systems to ensure they are effectively managed and accurate, ensuring compliance with attendance, safeguarding and progress of students.You will be expected to act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead; developing and leading on the delivery of training sessions for professionals to ensure all Training Providers providing services for CAP are adhering to safeguarding policy and procedures, including KCSIE.This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).Who are we looking for?The successful candidate will have a strong background in education, quality assurance, or a related field together with a passion for improving outcomes for children and young people's accessing Alternative Provision and will additionally have knowledge of:
  • Understanding of Alternative Provision Guidance and school/local authority statutory duties.
  • Awareness of statutory procedures around safeguarding, child protection and Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)
