And it’s why we’re the UK’s No. 1 choice for business waste management.A quick look at the role.Assisting the management of the day to day running of a busy household waste recycling centre, to ensure that it operates safely, remains compliant to regulations and meets set contract targets.Why it’s an opportunity not to be wasted.1. Ensure that the HWRC site is managed in a safe and effective manner, and that the contract requirements are met.2. Assist site users in the disposal and segregation of waste and recyclable material.3. Delegate tasks to team members and ensure work is undertaken to the required standard.4. Proactively address complaints from site users and resolve if possible.5. Communicate all instructions and cooperate feedback to relevant employees.6. Lead a team to provide a positive customer experience by educating customers in correct segregation of materials.7. Book annual leave and ensure that staffing levels are satisfactory for operational requirement for the site.8. Induct contractors and oversee works that are undertaken on HWRC site.9. Ensure Authorisations to work and permits to work are completed and issued to relevant tasks.10. Report all accidents and incidents and assist in the investigation to identify root cause.11. Provide leadership in emergency situations whether these are actual incidents or testing.12. Proactively report all near misses and provide practical solutions to prevent reoccurrence if possible.13. Ensure that team members carry out their duties in a safe, effective and timely manner.14. Ensure that all relevant paper work is completed correctly and kept in an organised manner.15. Requesting and overseeing the ordering of PPE and other materials required for the site.16. Liaising with other departments to ensure that waste material is collected in a timely manner.17. Assisting with visits and audits from regulatory authorities and oversee undertaken inspections.18. Reporting of defects to plant equipment and infrastructure that effect operational matters in a timely manner.RequirementsHere’s what we require:Understanding of environmental permitting requirements.Basic knowledge of health and safety practices.Basic knowledge of minor construction and repair work that could be needed on HWRC sites.Understanding of plant machinery and ability to identify defects.Understanding to methods and reasoning for segregation of waste and recycling.A good standard of administration and record keeping.Ability to motivate staff and delegate work to deliver set goals.BenefitsAnd here’s why you’ll love it at Biffa.
