As Category Manager – Asset Maintenance your key responsibilities will be:
- Developing and maintaining Category Strategies aligned to business goals with a focus on delivering value for National Gas, supply chain and our customers.
- Acquire, maintain and develop expertise, knowledge and information to support continuous improvement in category performance from relevant internal and external sources
- Delivering a diverse range of initiatives from your Category Strategy working collaboratively within business and supplier stakeholders to drive great value, continuous improvement, and innovation.
- Managing assigned categories and the delivering sourcing projects with associated savings and other benefits including quality, cost, security, social value and sustainability.
- Leading higher value / higher complexity sourcing projects within scope of the Asset Maintenance category.
- Supporting organisation-wide procedures for governance, risk and compliance management that manage, mitigate, and minimise risks to National Gas
- Working closely with the Sourcing & Contract Management Hub and ensure the work that they deliver to support the Category is aligned to the strategy set by the Category Manager.
- In conjunction with the Procurement Business Partners, engage with the stakeholders to plan future activity (including supporting the build of the annual value plan).
- Experience and an excellent track record in category management, strategic sourcing or as a procurement professional including a track record of continuous improvement and delivery of results in a variety of commercial settings
- Demonstrates good level of knowledge, specifically in reference to services and products purchasing processes (ideally but necessarily associated with an engineering environment)
- Experience in personally conducting category activities, including analysis, requirements definition, sourcing planning, supplier management and competitive tendering, in line with the agreed strategy
- Strategic sourcing process management and supplier performance management – advanced
- Awareness of Utilities Contract Regulations, or compliance and regulatory requirements need to be fulfilled by a procurement function, would be helpful.
