Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.Primary ResponsibilitiesWe have an exceptional opportunity for an Area Water Resources Business Class Leader, focused on developing and delivering water resource management programs and projects. This role includes both program development and project delivery responsibilities to manage and create detailed designs, plans, specifications, and cost estimates. This individual will work with HDR’s senior water resources leadership to continue our strategic water resource program growth in Alaska. The successful candidate will work directly with clients to formulate project approaches and develop detailed project scopes that meet client expectations. This role will also assist with the identification of sub-consultant arrangements and develop sub-consultant agreements in line with company policies. Focused on developing and delivering water resource management programs and projects throughout Alaska, this role includes both program development and project delivery responsibilities. This leader will work with leadership to continue our program’s growth in Alaska. The successful candidate will work directly with clients to formulate project approaches while collaborating with business development teams to identify and develop future opportunities.The candidate will also be responsible for client management while collaborating with business development teams to identify and develop opportunities and pursuits. Services provided may include planning, design, financial analysis, O&M, and alternative delivery. This role will collaborate with our professional discipline groups on technical services, marketing, activities to continually improve standards and best practices, and to implement effective quality assurance and quality control reviews. As a business class leader, the successful candidate will participate in internal strategic planning, budgeting, and plan implementation for our area. As a leader and mentor to junior staff, the successful candidate will engage in and encourage technical involvement in industry organizations and functions including presentations and publications. The candidate will also participate in discussions and facilitate lessons learned for project delivery processes, trends, successes, strengths, and weaknesses.Additional Responsibilities:
  • Drive technical expertise and growth locally.
  • Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews.
  • Engage in marketing planning, proposals, and interviews; includes championing and leading pursuits as well as developing submittals.
  • Function as Project Manager and take responsibility for producing deliverables in addition to management responsibilities.
  • Be directly involved with private and public clients in technical discussion, project production and related issues.
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled, and evaluated through proactive project management system.
  • Implement, monitor, and support company policy.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
*LI-MB1QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management.
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
  • Alaska PE or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of hire. Maintain engineering registration.
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic programs for engineering services.
  • Good communication, leadership, planning and mentoring skills.
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector.
  • Must be experienced in development and management of diverse technical teams.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with various levels of leadership locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values and quality improvement. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Ability to travel to client/project meetings/sites within Alaska.
  • Ability to travel to industry organization events/conferences within the US.
