The successful candidate will be an integral part of a small team which is responsible for the delivery of all works on Lambeth’s Highways that relate to new development.Lambeth’s diversity as a borough is reflected in the range of types of development it attracts. In the role of DRW Engineer, you could be negotiating a commuted sum for a public square in Brixton one minute and then meeting a developer at the South Bank the next to discuss significant highway improvement works to a major tourist route. Every day will likely bring a new challenge, but with boundless opportunity to make a positive difference to the experience of the huge number of people who use Lambeth’s highways.If you are a Highways Engineer who is technically capable; organised; and able to be forthright and articulate in dealings with contractors and developers; this could be the perfect role for you.To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence that you:
  • Have a thorough knowledge of highway asset management, construction techniques, traffic management, design standards and specifications.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the key legislation relating to highway adoption and planning approval processes (e.g. Highways Act and the Town & Country Planning Act).
  • Have demonstrable experience of delivering projects to agreed outputs and deadlines.
  • Have experience of highway asset management within a public sector environment.
  • Have experience of writing briefs, contract management and site supervision.
  • Share Lambeth’s core values of ambition and accountability.
