- Specialise in Security System Design: Working in the design department, you'll focus on designing security systems for industrial, commercial, and residential markets. This provides exposure to a diverse range of projects and environments.
- Guidance and Mentorship: Your mentor will provide guidance in fundamental design engineering principles, including the use of industry-standard applications like AutoCAD, Revit 3D modeling, and other design-specific software. This mentorship ensures you gain practical skills and knowledge under the guidance of experienced professionals.
- Technical Role: As an apprentice, you'll be responsible for creating detailed designs and calculations for various security systems, ensuring they meet industry and legislative standards. This hands-on experience allows you to directly contribute to the development of effective safety solutions.
- Diverse Project Environments: The team works on designing security systems in a variety of environments, including warehouses, manufacturing plants, retail spaces, commercial offices, and schools. This exposure broadens your understanding of different applications and challenges in security system design.
- Client Interaction and Site Visits: You'll have the opportunity to visit client sites alongside colleagues to conduct surveys and gather information. This firsthand experience aids in developing comprehensive design plans tailored to specific client needs and site requirements.
- Education and Training: You will be enrolled full-time in a "Level 6 Building Services Design" degree Apprenticeship at Coventry University. This apprenticeship combines on-the-job work experience with college education, providing a well-rounded learning experience. Continuous support from the training team and experienced design engineers ensures your development throughout the program.
- Overall, this apprenticeship offers a structured pathway for individuals to develop expertise in security system design while gaining practical experience and academic qualifications simultaneously. It sets a solid foundation for a successful career in the security industry.
- Annual Wage: You will receive a base pay of £16,000 in the first year of your apprenticeship. Subsequent increases will be applied each year upon completion of each academic year and the achievement of internal milestones. This provides a stable income for you as you gain valuable experience and skills in the field.
- Overtime & Travel Time Pay: You will have the opportunity to earn extra income through overtime and travel time pay.
- Holiday Entitlement: You are entitled to 25 days of holiday per year, in addition to bank holidays. This allows for a healthy work-life balance and opportunities for rest and relaxation outside of work commitments.
- Structured Training Plan: The program includes a structured training plan designed to support you in your professional development. This plan ensures that you receive comprehensive training and guidance throughout your journey, helping you to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed.
- Ongoing Support: You’ll benefit from ongoing support from mentors, experienced design engineers, and the training team. This support system ensures that apprentices have access to guidance, advice, and assistance whenever needed, contributing to your success and confidence in roles.
- You will be enrolled full-time in a "Level 6 Building Services Design" degree Apprenticeship at Coventry University. - This qualification is delivered via block release in Coventry and therefore travel and overnight stay will be required. There is approximately 6 block weeks per year.
- Min of 3 A Levels: B, B, C to include Mathematics. Excludes general studies.
- BTEC: Distinction, Distinction, Merit from 18 Unit BTEC to include Mathematics.
- IB Diploma: 28 points to include Mathematics at higher level.
- Applicants must also hold: 5 GSCEs at grade A*–C including English language and Mathematics or specified equivalent.
- Full Driving Licence is essential.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office packages.
