">Statement of the Job:The University of Maine at Presque Isle is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor of Mathematics to begin September 2024. The University of Maine Presque Isle recently established a B.S. concentration in actuarial science.The successful candidate will bring a demonstrated record of teaching and research experience. The candidate should have the ability to grow an exciting undergraduate academic program and build capacity within this program. Primary teaching responsibilities will include various levels of courses in mathematics such as Calculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, and Differential Equations or other courses in areas of expertise or interest.Responsibilities include:
- Up to 24 contact hours of teaching per year which may include traditional fall and spring offerings and/or competency-based education (CBE) courses
- Service to the department, university and community.
- Develop a research effort including undergraduate students in area of expertise or interest.
- Advise students in the math programs and concentrations.
- Recruit students to the math program and concentrations.
- Organize and facilitate a math club.
- Advising mathematics students and serving on 1-2 campus committees is expected.

Qualifications

">Qualifications:Required:
- Master's degree in mathematics.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching introductory and/or upper-level mathematics courses at the university level.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, and ability to collaborate with the campus, local, and regional communities.
- Demonstrated experience or ability to employ high impact teaching practices, multiple forms of formative and summative assessment, and technology that qualitatively improves the learning experience, including on-line teaching methods.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct research that engages undergraduates and can lead to conference presentations, publications, and may garner external funding.
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
- Ph.D. (or ABD) in a mathematics program.
- 3+ years teaching at the collegiate level (may include as a graduate assistant)
- 3+ years in a mathematical educational, leadership, or research role in higher education
- Candidate interested in supporting a mathematics club
