Location / Campus: South Kensington Campus - HybridSalary Range: £44,309 to £53,588 per annum plus a £3,000 per annum market supplementFull-time, Open-ended (Part-time working will be considered)Job summaryWe are looking for a Senior Transport Analyst who will perform a key role in our global public transport benchmarking activities. As part of our friendly and supportive team, you will collaborate with 30 professionals, who are dedicated to conducting high-quality work that significantly impacts some of the world's most influential transport operators and authorities. You will gain unique insights into public transport management and operations at both technical and strategic levels, occasionally engaging directly with senior figures in the worldwide public transport industry.You will be working across our benchmarking groups to manage data from member organisations worldwide. You will be responsible for managing transport datasets such as our annual Key Performance Indicators that cover a wide diversity of areas of public transport management and operations.The position will involve handling, managing, analysing, and owning such datasets, including primarily quantitative analysis and interpretation of benchmarking results to generate meaningful insights, advice, and recommendations. You will use innovative visualisations and presentation skills to convey the importance of the results to public transport providers on how to improve safety, efficiency, and quality.Main duties and responsibilities
  • You will manage the datasets relating to transport performance, such as annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and data on applied research topics; and carry out excellent data management.
  • You will synthesise and summarise a large quantity of diverse qualitative and quantitative information from public transport providers.
  • You will deliver projects independently, taking responsibility for managing small projects.
  • You will understand public transport providers' strengths, opportunities, and risks, as well as their key purposes for international performance benchmarking.
  • You will attend public transport provider meetings overseas where necessary.
Essential requirements
  • Education in a discipline with significant numerate content such as Civil Engineering, Geography, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Experience with the public transport industry working directly or indirectly with an operator or authority.
  • In-depth working knowledge and/or understanding of the public transport industry (urban and/or national) in the UK and/or internationally.
  • Excellent analytical skills with an ability to draw evidence-based insight and conclusions from datasets and information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Willing to travel worldwide for short durations.
