Come join our Vim & Vigor team in San Jose as our Fitness Manager! Our mission is to help build healthy bodies, lives, families and communities through fitness. Our ultimate goal is to help improve the lives of our members through our passion and focus on health and fitness.Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Design exercise programs for a large variety of members and clients;
  • Ensure all PTs understand how to complete the mandatory FMS assessment and FMS alternate assessment;
  • Train and coach members and clients through exercise programs that are unique, challenging, and safe;
  • Conduct Welcome Sessions designed to acquaint a new member or potential client with the personal training program. Makes sales presentations to these new members or potential clients;
  • When possible, service and complete the first session for every new member who purchases personal training at POS
  • Focus on the recruitment and retention of quality Personal Trainers (PT);
  • Onboard new Personal Trainers;
  • Provide continuing education for PTs and meet daily with each PT on the calendar that day;
  • Ensure the quality of individual sessions by shadowing at least one session per month of each PT as they train clients;
  • Complete weekly and monthly app audits for each PT;
  • Diligently work with the Club Manager (CM) to maintain a busy training schedule. Booking schedule should be complete two weeks in advance. This might include making sales presentations to existing clients, assisting in collections of delinquent payments, and managing member or client account payments;
  • Manage the personal training daily production report (DPR) on a daily basis and provide detailed information to the CM;
  • The FM should only keep 3-5 clients in their schedule on a regular basis. When the FM is scheduled and does not have a one-on-one appointment with a member or client the FM may be expected to contribute to general club objectives. This could mean staffing the front desk, selling personal training or membership plans, educating the Lead Service Specialists (LSS) on personal training sales techniques, and assisting the CM with various other tasks;
  • Help PTs maintain up-to-date client information such as workout logs, food logs, and body composition analysis using our custom branded app;
  • Participate in club promotions;
  • Assist in the setting and achievement of club personal training goals.
The FM reports directly to the Club Manager.The FM should have the following qualifications:Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Experience in health and wellness preferred.
  • Experience with customer management software. ABC Financial and M&O preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively to motivate members and provide members with fitness instruction and information.
  • Must possess strong management and sales skills.
  • A passion for health and fitness
  • Optimistic, outgoing and a good listener
  • Very organized
Certifications/Education Level:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification recommended.
  • Certification from nationally recognized personal training organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
Physical Qualifications:
  • Ability to work in club office; move about club floors and rooms; review, revise, create club paperwork; communicate with employees, members and the public.
  • Travel: must have reliable transportation to and from work and be able to travel by car and possibly airplane as needed for company-related business.
  • Ability to access and operate club computer systems including prepare documents, enter data into computer system, read reports from a computer data base or email system.
  • Ability to help clients on and off equipment and the ground. Ability to lift heavy weights (up to 50lbs) to assist members with the prescribed exercise program.
  • Must be able to engage in extended periods of sitting, standing, squatting, lifting, bending, and reaching.
Work Environment:
  • Ability to work a varied schedule to support the needs of the club, including occasional extended workdays, and weekends and holidays may be required.

  • Support team members outside of the personal training department when needed.
  • Promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle to all team members.
