- Baccalaureate degree, preferably in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Management, or Exercise Science; Master's Degree in a related field preferred.
- USATF Level 1/USTFCCCA Track & Field Technical Certification or higher preferred.
- At least 2-5 years coaching and/or running cross country/track; preferably at the NCAA level.
- Background in coaching multi-events and/or sprints, hurdles, and jumps.
- Strong background in recruiting.
- Ability to successfully pass the NCAA recruiting examination within one month of hire.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
- Basic familiarity, appreciation, and empathy with the role of intercollegiate athletics and its relationship to the university, and the capacity to articulate that role and interact comfortably with those individuals and constituency groups (student-athletes, alumni, coaches, parents, etc.) crucial to the advancement of athletics at SEU.
- Highly motivated with a capacity for independent work within the context of an intensely goal-oriented environment.
- Possession of a valid unencumbered driver's license and the ability to travel both locally and nationally
- Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal background check is required.
- Actively assist in the planning and direction of the overall practice strategy and individual training for the team. Aspects of practice to include:
- instruct student-athletes in various event-specific techniques
- instruct student-athletes in tactical strategies on a variety of events
- instruct student-athletes through the use of film review; practice and competition
- Make strategic decisions for competition situations for athletes in various events.
- Travel nationwide for competition and recruiting.
- Counsel student-athletes concerning academic progress.
- Assist in the overall recruiting strategy and implementation of evaluating, identifying, and recruiting quality student-athletes; correspondence with prospective student-athletes, parents, recruiting coordinators, and club coaches.
- Assist with keeping stats during practices and competitions.
- Ability to calculate and navigate statistical data for feedback and coaching decisions
- Assist with equipment purchase and organization.
- Assist with camp operations and fundraising.
- Assist in oversight of team travel keeping budget considerations in mind.
- Chronicle and report NCAA-required data to the athletic compliance office.
- Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
