- Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
- Identifies discrepancies in results.
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design
- Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.
- Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- BS in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 4+ years of related experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Ohio or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire if current PE is out of state
- Computer skills using Microsoft office, HCS, Synchro, HISSM, AutoCAD and MicroStation preferred. Strong familiarity with InRoads a plus
- Prior experience working on traffic safety design projects preferred
- Individuals with related experience in traffic signal design, traffic control, traffic crash analysis, traffic studies, or roadway design will also be considered.
- Prior experience working with the Ohio Department of Transportation is a plus
