If you're ready to take your career to the next level and gain valuable experience, apply today!This position is located in Motor Carrier Processing Unit, in Motor Carrier Services, Headquarters, Blythewood, SC.Responsibilities of the Motor Carrier Processing Specialist III
  • Processes MCS transactions for all programs (i.e. IRP, IFTA, UCR, etc.), interstate and intrastate CMV's, including but not limited to title work, new IRP/IFTA accounts and eforms, reinstatements, IFTA tax returns and amendments, HVUT tax, renewals, add, transfers, add w/transfer, delete vehicles, and other non-routine transactions for customers.
  • Evaluates documents provided by the customer to determine if the appropriate and compliant documentation is being submitted.
  • Verifies carrier's status utilizing FMCSA/PRISM and/or other state/federal system applications prior to issuing credentials.
  • Ensures customer account is updated and accurate in MCS system (i.e. suspended, closed, revoked, out of service, etc.).
  • Supports all office-related tasks associated with the daily operations of all MCS programs including call rotation for MCS Help Desk and special projects as required.
  • Reconciles inventory, completes end of day processes, prepares summary report of daily activities, and accounts for and balances revenue collected with transactions processed.
  • Retains accurate department records for state, federal and program reporting; ensures carrier's information is stored in the document management system so that supporting documentation is made available for peer review, audits, member jurisdictions, enforcement, administrative hearings, suspensions, cancellations, and data uploads.
  • Researches and provides customer records/reports for upper management.
  • Maintains professional growth and development to keep abreast of the programs administered through MCS, the MCS systems, and state/federal regulations and reporting.
  • Reports productivity stats daily and maintains output percentages set by the department.
  • Performs other duties as required by Supervisor and the Chief of MCS.Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma and relevant professional experience. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required program experience. An equivalent education and relevant experience may be accepted with prior approval.Additional Requirements
  • Ability to learn and explain SCDMV policies/procedures and MCS program requirements to customers.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the status of MCS program areas.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and with the internet for the purpose of research.
  • Proficiency in using various forms of technology and system applications.
  • Knowledge of SCDMV Phoenix and Celtic MCS systems a plus.
  • Works independently with limited supervision after a period of training.
  • Requires a high degree of self-motivation, integrity, initiative, and professionalism.
  • Must ensure that the SCDMV policies and operational procedures are followed.
  • Works in a general office environment. May be required to work extended hours outside of the normal scheduled work week. Some overnight travel may be required.
  • Must be able to lift 10-15 lbs. The work requires sitting for prolonged periods of time and significant time spent at a computer.
Agency Preferred
  • A high school diploma and two (2) years relevant job experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
