But, this is just the beginning.To fuel our acceleration, and to recognise the strategic importance of our Marketing function, we're seeking a Chief Marketing Officer to lead our Marketing Team.Reporting to our Innovation Director, the Chief Marketing Office will thrive in working at the heart of Roke's business. You will have boundless ambition, passion, drive, reativity, and the strategic vision to elevate our brand to new levels.Not only you will be a true leader, directing the marketing team on campaigns, messaging, website etc, you will advise on Marketing strategy at a REXCOM Level.Roke are a leading technology & engineering company with clients spanning National Security, Defence and Industry 4.0 through our Futures business and Intelligence as a Service. You will work alongside our customers to solve their complex and unique challenges.Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities:
- Set a strategic direction for Roke's marketing and public relations team that achieves our goals of understanding our market, building our brand, growing our business, transitioning to Intellectual Property led growth and generating sales leads.
- Lead the brand strategy and ongoing management of the Roke brand working with key stakeholders including the Chemring marketing and communications team.
- Lead, with passion and enthusiasm, the central marketing team and create a marketing network across our Business Units, that leverages the full talent of Roke to help deliver our marketing objectives.
- Lead Roke in unifying, aligning and implementing our diverse Business Units' public relations and media strategies, under the banner of One Roke. This dynamic individual will lead the charge in designing marketing strategies, campaigns and directing operations that not only enhance visibility of multiple brands, but also ensure that all marketing efforts contribute to a cohesive and unified brand identity.
- Lead a market analytics team that ensures Roke's products and offerings are focussed on the needs of the market and targeted at winnable opportunities.
- Create and empower champions and supporters in the Business Units who proactively help with both market analysis, public relations and media activities such as supporting the promotion of Roke, responding to urgent requests for media comment and creating thought leadership pieces.
- Keep a customer-centric focus, ensuring that marketing strategies resonate with the needs and preferences of the target audience and implement feedback mechanisms to refine marketing approaches.
- Lead the transformation of Roke's digital presence including the re-design of our web presence to include proactive Customer Relationship Management (CRM), e-commerce, delivery of digital service-based offerings (e.g. Roke Intelligence) and social media channels.
- Design, implement and manage exciting and innovative marketing campaigns that differentiate Roke in the market, build our brand, influence key buyers in our strategic opportunities (e.g. major Defence deals) and generate new leads.
- Create and manage a network of suppliers, including external marketing agencies, to deliver exciting and innovative marketing campaigns and agreed services to our internal customers.
- Define and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that measure the effectiveness of our marketing team, its impact on our business and demonstrate a step change in market impact over the first six months.
- Lead the content strategy for all marketing material and channels to ensure regular publication of content across all channels including digital.
- Secure the confidence and support of the Roke Executive Committee (REXCOM) through clear reporting of strategies, plans, campaigns and KPIs in both business as usual activities and strategic initiative / major projects.
- A strategic thinker with 5 to 10 years' experience at a senior leadership level leading successful marketing teams and delivering impactful physical and digital campaigns including in B2B/B2G markets.
- Demonstrable track record in building an active brand in the digital age.

- Develop the Roke marketing vision, laying out a comprehensive plan taking our media spending to a better, more profitable, ethically sound future.
- Passionate and driven self-starter with the courage and grit needed to negotiate conflicting priorities at pace.
- Understand all marketing channels (including events, media and digital) and you know how to make the channels work together.
- Generate creative and innovative ideas and campaigns to support different client accounts. You can confidently create, plan, execute and monitor marketing campaigns with accountability.
- Proven track record managing marketing and communications budgets.
- Experience of managing a multidisciplined team skilled across marketing channels and content types.
- IT literate, with experience using MS Office suite, Google suite and social media technologies.
- You are hands on, highly adaptable, able to multi-task and work to deadlines.
- Excellent organisation and interpersonal skills and a strong leader able to lead teams and create a passion for our business.
- Have experience within Defence, National Security, Law Enforcement, Government, Aerospace and Energy; ideal but not essential.
- Marketing related degree to marketing or degree and CIM qualification.
- Proven experience in leading exciting, innovative and transformative marketing teams that have delivered measurable and significant business impact.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence internal networks.
