We are looking for an enthusiastic dietitian with extensive experience of cancer care to join our dietetic team. This newly created band 7 post will sit within the heart of our oncology and surgical dietetic services. It will provide senior support and leadership within our inpatient and outpatient oncology services along with a number of surgical pathways.This role will work closely with our other senior specialist dietitians for oncology, haematology and surgery to lead the day to day provision of dietetic services within these pathways. They will work collaboratively to deliver high quality patient, support service delivery, pathway development and senior support to others.Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) is a tertiary cancer centre for the South West of England and provides specialist non-surgical treatment for people with cancer as well as these treatments for non-cancerous conditions. The Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI) is a regional surgical hub for a number of cancer pathways across the South West. This role will work closely with colleagues to deliver the provision of inpatient oncology and surgical dietetic services.Our outpatient oncology services provide specialist dietetic services to patients along a range of cancer pathways within the Bristol area. They link in closely with our inpatient oncology and surgical services to provide a high level of service and continuity of care.Main duties of the jobThe delivery of high quality nutritional care to a number of cancer pathways requiring complex dietary and invasive nutrition support interventions. These include complex enteral and parenteral nutrition support, discharge planning for patients with complex nutritional needs and complex therapeutic dietary interventions.Experience of cancer care is essential. The post holder will need to be competent in the delivery of a range of complex and invasive nutrition support interventions. This role will involve close working with the wider MDT including doctors, nurses, the palliative care team, pharmacists, the nutrition team and cancer support workers, so good communication and people skills are essential.Work collaboratively with colleague both inside and outside the Trust to drive and development dietetic services within cancer care.As a band 7 dietitian the post will provide leadership, supervision and line management to junior colleagues.You will be expected to undertake a role in the training of dietetic students and take part in the education of health care professionals in order to support the Trust Food Policy.To best meet the needs of our healthcare colleagues and service users the dietetic department provides a service on Saturday, which you will be expected to contribute to once every 4 weeks.
