
Publications Manager

- Gather intelligence via own contacts and customer meetings about industry needs for technical guidance – sharing internally for wider BSRIA benefit and input.
- Work with BSRIA internal staff and key industry contacts to generate ideas and requirements for new and updated technical guidance.
- Create and manage plan and roadmap for publications delivery in line with targets, budget, and steering group/executive team sign off.
- Project manage all areas of allotted publication projects from conception to publication.
- Work with steering groups and industry consultees to ensure published guidance represents industry best practice.
- Co-design, develop and continuously improve the publication production process and resources.
- Contribute content by authoring technical guidance in areas of technical expertise as required.
- Ensure all contributed content is adapted to fit the BSRIA guidelines, tone, and style.
- Proofread, check and edit drafts of technical guidance written by other staff members or external authors ensuring the quality of all publications meet the required standards.
- Work with the marketing team to provide internal and external promotional information about technical guidance and ensure a successful sponsorship outcome in line with targets.
- Deliver technical information as and when required in other formats such as webinars, training courses and marketing articles.
- Through own self learning and industry collaborations, remain up to date on industry trends and innovations, especially in an area of own expertise – ensure knowledge is leading edge.
- Leverage technical expertise to support and deliver other BSRIA department activities, including training and technical projects.
- Previous experience in technical publication writing is desirable.
- Previous experience in lecturing and or presenting is desirable.
- Practical experience of designing, installing, commissioning or operating building services is desirable.
- Technical expertise in one or more areas of building services engineering
- A strong network and reputation in the building services industry
- Writing ability (publications, reports, bids, web content etc.)
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to quality check and proofread documents to a high standard
- Excellent communication skills – ability to liaise with colleagues and industry partners at all levels, chair meetings and manage group discussions diplomatically.
- Ability to project manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrate a continuous learning mindset, with the ability to adapt to evolving business and industry needs.
- An Engineering qualification related to building services.
