- Effectively identifies, evaluates, and addresses acute and chronic problems as well as disease prevention and health promotion issues of the patients while administering quality patient care.
- Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with the physician, which allows for consultation, collaboration, or referral.
- Responsible for initial consultation and/or follow up diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic healthcare issues of clinic patients.
- Responsible for communicating test results and recommendations to patients and/or their caregivers.
- Responsive to the questions and concerns of patients and their family members.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues, and use of prescribed medical treatments and or medications.
- Maintains accurate and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatment, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with state regulatory standards.
- Facilitates evaluation of records by physicians and peers, and receives and implements constructive directives.
- Prescribes medications in accordance with prescriptive authority granted by the Texas Medical Board/Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Maintains professional certification as dictated by the Texas Medical Board/Board of Nurse Examiners.
- Follows latest ADA, ACC and AHA guidelines as protocol and standard of care which shall be defined to promote the exercise of professional judgment by the NP/PA commensurate with his/her education and experience.
- Experience in care of patients with diabetes and/or credentialing as a certified diabetes educator (CDCES) is preferred.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude in the workplace and is a leader in this regard.
- Provides follow up patient care within a private practice setting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Education Required: Master’s degree in in Nursing.
- Experience Required: None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing. Current Texas Licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (APRN-NP), Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, and ACLS certification (maintained every two years).
- Education Required: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies.
- Experience Required: None required.
- Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the Texas Medical Board. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, and ACLS certification (maintained every two years).
