The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith based organization, has a job opening for Program Aides for the Boys & Girls Clubs in Greensboro, North Carolina.Job SummaryProgram Aides work in an after-school and summer program that aligns in-school and out-of-school learning, provides academic support and enrichment opportunities through high yield learning activities. Programming includes character and leadership development and utilizes anti-gang and anti-drug curriculum. Program Aides deliver programming in Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship and Healthy Lifestyles. Program Aides are expected to leverage volunteers and other community resources, and engage parents to enhance programming. Program Aides will maintain the integrity of the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club of Greensboro's mission and goals demonstrating the Club culture and values at all times.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesAbility to motivate and engage youth and manage behavioral challenges with peer mediation, Ability to effectively communicate with youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and teachers, Ability to adapt to changes in a highly energetic work environment, Ability to work in fast paced environment and be flexible, Ability to meet attendance requirements, Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquires, and to make entries on reports and records.Education and ExperienceHigh School Graduate and minimum one-year experience working with youthLicenses and CertificationsValid state driver's license (Approved Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Report Required. CDL is preferred, Approved background check required, Mandatory CPR and First Aid CertificationsPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsMust be able to sit, stand, walk and climb stairs, lift 25 pounds and carry items as needed throughout the work day, Driving and light lifting, Work is usually performed in various different environments, primarily in group or “classroom” settings.
