- Responsible for obtaining measurements, fitting and application of custom and off the shelf durable medical equipment within manufacturer guidelines.
- Educates patients and support staff on safe application, use, care, and expected outcome for products as indicated by the ordering provider and manufacturer recommendations.
- Coordinates appointments for fitting and/or pick-up of durable medical equipment and/or supplies.
- Obtains and documents payor pre-certification and/or authorization for requested durable medical equipment.
- Develops and maintains working knowledge of DME products and all applicable insurance guidelines regarding eligibility for coverage and reimbursement.
- Collects patient payment and educates to patient financial responsibility.
- Reviews providers orders and applicable documentation to ensure that it meets pre-established medical necessity/appropriateness criteria. When necessary, requests additional applicable information from provider.
- Assists in resolving patient equipment problems.
- Maintains detailed EHR documentation to record patient, provider and referral source communications following compliance and regulatory processes.
- Coordinates with other OrthoNebraska departments as appropriate.
- Maintains inventory par levels.
- Receives and stocks at all locations.
- Notifies DME Lead of issues requiring higher- level resolution.
- Driving between OrthoNebraska clinics required.
- Attends required clinic meetings and participates in professional development activities.
- Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.

- Demonstrated ability to adjust and flex to meet last-minute changes.
- Minimum of one year of experience in durable medical equipment preferred.
- Athletic training experience preferred.
- 2-4 years' experience in a Physician's office is highly desirable.
- High school diploma or GED
- This position is classified as Medium Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
