Some pupils may also have multiple learning difficulties. At our establishment, there is a dedicated therapy team on site to support both staff and students. Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting.
  • A recognized qualification at Level 2 or above in Support work for Teaching and Learning in Schools or an equivalent (desirable).
  • GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
  • Ability to provide consistent support to our children.
  • Desire to put the child first and treat them as an individual.
  • Positive and creative approach in meeting pupils' individual needs.
  • Ability to participate in the school's behavior support approach, including physical intervention (accredited Team Teach) where necessary and always as a last resort.
  • Ability to complete reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Key Duties:
  • Take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils, following the school's policies, including safeguarding and PREVENT.
  • Provide meaningful feedback on pupil behavior, relationships, and attitudes.
  • Support positive behavior and concentration levels of the children, adapting own behavior and responses to any change or escalations.
  • Establish a positive relationship with pupils, enabling them to feel safe and enjoy learning.
  • Promote and encourage independence, personal development, and maintain high expectations of behavior.
  • Implement and adjust learning activities as agreed with the teacher. Reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers.
  • Support learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher.
  • Implement learning activities appropriate to the class group, supporting the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum.
