- Performs and documents gas and water locates of underground pipelines.
- Organizes and prioritizes locate requests to maximize efficiency.
- Measures and marks located facilities using paint, flags, stake etc.
- Communicates changes required to maintain the accuracy of infrastructure management system i.e., CityWorks and ArcReader
- Communicates relevant details to construction and maintenance personnel.
- Use locating software to create, track, complete and share locates.
- Utilize computers, tablets, phones, etc. to receive locates.
- Conducts record keeping duties (detail sheets and drawing filing, etc.).
- Responds to public and internal gas and water information requests.
- Responds to emergency callouts and works overtime as may be required.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience of performing natural gas and water infrastructure locates.
- Minimum high school diploma with up to one year of post-secondary education.
- Must have Ontario Regional Common Ground Alliance Damage Prevention Technician Certification in Natural Gas and Water.
- Valid full class 'G' driver's license in good standing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts relating to design and construction process and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of CSA Z662 code, traffic control and occupational health and safety
- Demonstrated experience interpreting drawings.
- Demonstrated locating experience using electronic locating equipment, preferably Radio detection or Metrotech equipment.
- Proven mathematical and computing skills (Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, AutoCAD).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proven verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must have the ability to support and project values compatible with the organization.
- Must be willing to be part of rotational on-call schedule, responding to emergency call outs and working overtime as required.
- Must successfully complete a medical examination if required.
- Must be reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
