ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior Accountant, you will work with both the finance and budget/reimbursement director. Your work will include the reconciliation process for various balance sheet accounts, conduct fundamental account analysis, and you will be actively involved in our monthly closing process:
- The Senior Accountant is responsible for month-end close and monthly financial reporting:
- Record financial transactions
- Prepare and record journal entries by compiling and analyzing account information
- Review, track, analyze and reconcile all information for accuracy and compliance
- Analyze budget variances
- Prepare monthly reports
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations in support of the financial statements
- Prepare audit worksheets and reports
- Prepare ad-hoc reports/analysis as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Maintain accounting controls by following and/or recommending policies and procedures
- Act as an adviser to Managers/Directors on financial formulation. Respond to department managers' inquiries regarding departmental reports. Participate in meetings as needed.
- Exemplify a high standard of customer service.
- Analyzes and reconciles expenditure and revenue accounts of major programs and capital projects.
- Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Prepares monthly financial statements, including distributing monthly revenue and expenditure reports to departments.
- Provide information to various federal, state, local and professional agencies.
- Monitors revenues and expenditures for realization of and compliance with approved budget.
- Assists and monitors staff accountant's performance.
- Performs special projects and/or other work- related duties as required or assigned
