Offer DescriptionConferențiar universitar, position 11The Department of Machine Elements and Tribology ensures the training of students by specialization in the field of Industrial Engineering and in the field of Economic Engineering in Mechanical Fields. The associate professor will be responsible for teaching Machine Elements and Mechanical Design, including Mechanical Drawing and CAD/CAE activities. Other duties are supervision of thesis/dissertation for bachelor-, master- and PhD levels in all the study programs taught in the department. Exam preparation, evaluation, and administrative tasks as required.Research is one of the key points of the department. The associate professor will also be responsible to initiate new research projects and to contributing to and leading the development of the research area within the research group and the department. The department key research areas are Machine Elements. and Tribology. Much of the focus within this area is currently on environmentally sustainable solutions. National projects are financed by the multiannual National Research-Development and Innovation Plan for the period 2022 - 2027 (PNCDI).The associate professor will be responsible for facilitating academic exchanges with universities from abroad.Subjects:1.Organe de mașini (translated as "Machine Elements" in English), delves into the fundamental components that constitute machinery. It covers the design, analysis, and application of essential machine elements such as gears, bearings, and shafts, providing students with comprehensive knowledge on assembling and maintaining various types of machines.2.Tribologie (translated as "Tribology") is a cross-disciplinary course intended to provide the student with a clear and thorough understanding of friction and wear phenomena caused by the relative motion between interacting elements, basic principles of lubrication, and tribological design solutions of elements and systems.APPLICATIONBefore applying, all candidates are invited to read carefully the NUSTPB's Methodology for occupying didactic and research positions:RequirementsResearch Field Engineering » Mechanical engineering Education Level PhD or equivalentSkills/Qualifications1. Organe de mașini (Machine Elements)
  • Proficiency in technical drawing and CAD software for the design of machine components.
  • In-depth knowledge of materials science for selecting appropriate materials for gears, bearings, and shafts.
  • Skills in mechanical analysis to evaluate stresses and strains in machine elements.
  • Competence in the assembly and maintenance procedures for various types of machinery.
  • Ability to conduct performance testing and quality assurance of mechanical parts.
2. Tribologie (Tribology)
  • Ability to identifies the geometrical parameters and calculates the operating performance characteristics (load capacity, rate of flow, friction loss, temperature) of the main machine components which operate with full film: sliding and rolling bearings, seals, EHD friction drives and speed variators.
  • Competence to evaluate tribologically (friction coefficient, mode of wear and wear rate) of the material pairs used for mechanical components in contact and relative motion.
  • Proficiency to recognize and understand the operation mechanism of a fluid film (HD) sliding bearing and it is capable to design it for given operating conditions.
  • Understands tribological criteria in design/selection of bearings, seals, gears or other machine elements; evaluate design alternatives
  • Proficiency in technical drawing and CAD software for the design of machine components.
  • Skills in mechanical analysis to evaluate stresses and strains in machine elements.
