Offer DescriptionConferențiar universitar, position 6The Department of Communication in Modern Languages (DCML) has a long-established tradition in the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, offering language and culture classes (English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian as a foreign language and other languages upon demand) to all the engineering specializations of the university, at Bachelor and Master levels. DCML is deeply involved in research in areas such as: applied linguistics, traductology, literature, cultural studies, philology, e-learning, education science, and the didactics of teaching foreign languages for specific purposes (Engineering).The National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest offers a vacancy at the Faculty of Engineering in Foreign Languages (FILS) - the Department of Communication in Modern Languages - for a permanent position of an Associate Professor for the following disciplines and subjects: Foreign Language I(English), Foreign Language II (English);Spanish I; Scientific and technical oral communication in English.The position requires: needs analysis, course design, materials adaptation, drafting input content for lectures and applications, for both face-to-face and online instructional modes, in both fields, adapting and updating house materials, for all levels of learners, in all the study programmes levels in the university. The person employed is expected to contribute to the further development of courses in English/Spanish for Engineering (with a focus on Electrical and Mechanical Engineering), with regard to both academic content and teaching methodological approaches, in line with state-of-the-art views at international level.Didactics is an integral part of all courses and research interests of our department. Therefore, the position involves teaching the two disciplines, doing research in these areas and related ones, experience in teaching within multicultural educational settings. Additionally, involvement and commitment in planning / designing / supervising extracurricular activities and other skills would be an asset.The candidate should prove expertise resulting from relevant didactic activity in both areas of interest, alongside with a list of publications demonstrating research interests relevant for the fields. Consequently, considering the Department activity and research interests, the ideal candidate profile is expected to include at least the following: academic background at doctoral level, double specialization in English and Spanish, at proficiency level, with grades in accordance with the methodology in force.The University Department of Communication in Modern Languages is located at our campuses in Militari region of Bucharest. The candidate's main place of work will be in Bucharest, and the work hours may be expected to take in all parts of the day, depending on the schedule.
