If you're ready for a challenging and rewarding career, apply now to be at the forefront of naval engineering excellence.Selected candidates will join the Commissioned Ships Electrical Engineering department that is responsible for supporting a wide range of electrical systems and equipment in the following areas: reactor plant instrumentation and control systems, steam and electric plant systems, auxiliary electrical/electronic systems, power distribution equipment and systems, and advanced power electronics. This position supports all delivered fleet submarines, including Los Angeles, Ohio, Seawolf and Virginia classes; training platforms including S6G Moored Training Ships at NPTU Charleston, SC and the S8G Prototype at Kesselring, NY; and Multi Mission Platform (MMP)/Watchtower. This job will provide for an unusually large variety of work of differing durations, and increased responsibilities and independence as ability and experience supports.Responsibilities include initial system and/or component design and upgrades as ship alterations, in addition to ships life cycle support. Candidates will function as a project engineer overseeing all aspects of engineering tasks including overall technical quality, working in a team environment, maintaining schedules, awareness of budgets, and interfacing with Design and other engineering organizations and disciplines, technical writers, material buyers and program office representatives. Candidates will also be required to evaluate and provide technical resolution to system and component related questions and problems from Naval Shipyards, Navy forces afloat, land based prototypes, reactor plant prime contractors and NAVSEA engineering and program offices. Selected candidates will be expected to effectively communicate within the organization as well as with NAVSEA, prime contractors, Navy shipyards and equipment vendors.Newly hired personnel will be assigned a mentor to assist in learning the above roles and responsibilities.Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables.   • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree or higher in Electrical Engineering.
  • 0 to 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to obtain a DOD secret security clearance.
  • Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel).
