We're seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as a 2ic (Second in Charge) of the Maths Department in Bexley.As the 2ic of the Maths Department, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the Head of Department and leading the team to deliver outstanding maths education. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact, inspire excellence, and contribute to the development of mathematical skills and confidence in our students.2ic Maths Department Responsibilities: * Assist the Head of Department in planning and implementing a comprehensive and engaging maths curriculum that meets the needs of all students and aligns with national standards and guidelines.
- Lead and support a team of maths teachers, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practice and improve student outcomes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching resources, assessments, and instructional strategies that promote active learning, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning skills.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning within the maths department, conducting lesson observations, providing feedback, and implementing strategies for improvement where necessary.
- Support the coordination of extracurricular activities, competitions, and enrichment programs to promote a positive and inclusive maths culture within the school community.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and stakeholders, providing regular updates on curriculum content, student progress, and departmental initiatives.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience teaching mathematics within a UK school setting.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in a similar role, such as a Head of Department or Deputy Head of Department.
