Learn more about careers at Irving Shipbuilding: .Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Strategic Planning Specialist.Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Planning, the Specialist, Strategic Planning would have the primary role of supporting leadership in managing and leading the development of strategic goals across the business, ensuring to facilitate alignment across functions. The Specialist, Strategic Planning should be comfortable engaging with internal stakeholders at various levels of leadership, as well as being able clearly demonstrate superior written and verbal communication skills. This individual should display leadership behaviors allowing them to promote collaboration and lead senior leadership group through various strategic business changes. They should have the ability to use data, chains of indirect influence or subject-matter experts to influence the outcome or decision with stakeholders.This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Candidates who require accommodation during the selection process are invited to contact .Qualifications:· Education: Post-Secondary Education· Experience: 2 – 5 years of relevant business experience, considered an asset if in the defense industry· Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite· Must be a highly organized self-starter who takes the initiative and is efficient in prioritizing workloads including multi-tasking to ensure deadlines and milestones are achieved.· Must have proficient communications skills and the ability to engage with all levels of Project teams and leadership.· Ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with key stakeholders.· Foundational knowledge or understanding or project management and/or change management would be preferred.· Knowledge of strategic planning would be an asset.All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).Key Responsibilities:· Work with business functions, Strategic Planning & BI team to identify opportunities to improve processes as part of the strategic roadmaps, recognizing and resolving or facilitating interdependencies across ISI and departments.· Support the business to identify, plan and execute their strategic roadmaps, ensuring consistency and adherence to organizational templates and methodology.· Organize, attend, and participate (or facilitate) in stakeholder meetings ensuring clear agenda items are identified pre-meetings and minutes are provided post-meetings, following up on important actions and decisions when appropriate.· Produce relevant reports to track and monitor ISI and functional strategic objectives including developing and/or managing dashboards.· Facilitate meetings and workshops, and/or prepare necessary presentation materials for meetings when required, including supporting agendas, content, and output.· Develop and maintain project documentation, including schedules, RAID logs, keeping stakeholders focused on agreed timeframes, objectives, and communications.· Assist in the assessing of business, program, and project risks, providing solutions where applicable or escalating to Senior Strategic Planning Manager’s attention when challenges occur.· Build trusting relationships and personal credibility through active listening, knowledge, and delivery to drive the business forward.What We Offer:
