[Appointment period: twelve months]DutiesThe appointee will be required to:(a) provide teaching support in undergraduate and postgraduate tutorials and practicals of chemistry subjects including but not limited to Applied Chemistry, Chromatographic Analysis, Analytical Chemistry and Polymer Chemistry;(b) provide guidance and technical support to final-year projects related to chemical testing of food, consumer products, childcare products, toys, etc., by using different analytical equipment;(c) manage and maintain different advanced and sophisticated analytical equipment;(d) train students and research personnel to operate selected analytical equipment;(e) support research activities and manage teaching laboratories;(f) support marketing and promotional activities of the Department and the University; and(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Department or his/her delegates.QualificationsApplicants should:(a) have a doctoral degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology or related disciplines;(b) have at least five years' relevant experience in the operation of major instruments such as High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICP-OES), Mass Spectrometry (MS), nanoparticle analyzer, elemental analyzer, etc.;(c) be highly proficient in both written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably with fluency in Putonghua;(d) have a high level of creativity in research and teaching in his/her field; and(e) be able to demonstrate effective classroom teaching skills.Conditions of ServiceA highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.ApplicationPlease submit an application through PolyU’s career website (https://jobs.polyu.edu.hk/management).
