The primary purpose of this role will be to deliver high quality teaching, learning and assessment in the subject Maths to ensure learners achieve and make good progress from their starting points.We are a supportive and friendly team, who work together to ensure quality of our provision, within the local community to support the needs of the locality.What will I be doing as a Maths teacher?Duties include (but are not limited to):
  • Design, plan and deliver the English and/or Maths curriculum in line with the Education Inspection Framework (EIF), awarding body standards and Nacro curriculum guidance and quality standards.
  • Manage the delivery, quality and performance of Nacro’s Maths curriculum pathways, developing and sharing best practice across Nacro education.
  • Utilise Initial and diagnostic assessments to set programmes and regularly assess and measure progress from starting points and attainment of skills and qualifications through ILPs.
  • Actively engage with and support learners in decisions that affect their learning and outcomes and as part of wider planned learner voice activity.

  • Teaching qualification CET/PTTLS OR DET equivalent or above is preferred. However, support will be given to those willing to work towards a teaching qualification.
  • Level 2 English and Maths OR above is essential.
  • An enhanced DBS check is essential.
  • IQA/Assessor qualification is desirable.
We are looking for the following skills/attribute:
  • Communicating to a high standard at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills - ability to deal with conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to work as part of a wider team.
  • Calm and objective when facing problems including dealing with challenging behaviour from learners.
  • Previous teaching or learning support experience within an education setting is advantageous.
