You will get the opportunity to work on a range of challenging engineering projects in a collaborative and supportive team environment.We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work on water, wastewater, desalination and dewatering schemes, delivering engineering solutions ranging from concept design through to detailed design for construction.Binnies treats each professional as an individual and will provide all relevant training, development and support so that you may further your engineering career. A diverse and energetic team and you will play a key role in contributing to our growth and success.About the RoleTypically, you will lead mechanical engineering and/or multi-disciplinary teams and support/mentor more junior engineers to achieve the following:
  • Produce clear and concise engineering deliverables appropriate for the intended audience including general arrangement drawings, P&ID’s, equipment sizing calculations, equipment and material selection, enquiry documentation, datasheets, schedules and reports.
  • Serve as a technical specialist providing check, reviews as well as share knowledge and expertise.
  • Comply with in-house procedural & quality systems.
  • Manage design interfaces with other disciplines and integration of the mechanical design elements into the overall design
  • Work closely with project teams, other engineering disciplines, project managers, estimators, site and commissioning teams, CAD and clients.
  • Define and manage budget, schedule, and quality requirements for mechanical teams, both in proposal development and project execution.
About YouThe role is suitable for technically strong, commercially aware candidates with a background in Mechanical Engineering in the water, energy and resources, or closely related industries. You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, and knowledge:
  • Be Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering, with substantial experience in the sector. RPEQ eligibility is preferred.
  • Mechanical design experience for clean water, wastewater, desalination and/or groundwater extraction systems, including experience in pumps and pipelines
  • Working knowledge of pressure systems, integrated system design, relevant treatment processes, testing and commissioning practices, procurement processes, strong knowledge of codes and practices, construction design management, understand environmental management, planning process, document control.
  • Self-motivated and effective team player.
  • A drive to deliver sustainable solutions in the water and environment industries.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills along with a high level of computer literacy.
