SEN Learning Support AssistantJob Title: SEN Learning Support AssistantSalary/Rate: £92.11 – £105Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pmLocation: HackneyMilk Education are seeking a passionate SEN Learning Support Assistant, who is inclusive and has had experience supporting SEN students in Key Stage 3 and 4. Milk Education are in partnership with a Special secondary school located in Hackney who cater to pupils aged 11-17 years. This role will include supporting students with special educational needs and/ or disabilities such as a diagnosis of ASD and SEMH difficulties and to encourage every individual to overcome some very significant challenges on their journey to adulthood.The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm with a 30 minute lunch break. The Learning Support Assistant role will include addressing the pupils needs but also to identify and nurture their interests and talents, challenging as well as supporting every student to prepare them for adulthood.The role:
  • To work under the guidance providing support to pupils with an Education, Health & Care plan to enable them to access the curriculum and to develop social and communication skills within a class and group setting.
  • To provide practical assistance to the teacher in meeting the educational, social and personal welfare needs of the pupil.
  • To ensure a safe working environment for staff and pupils.
  • To contribute to facilitating children’s access to learning, promoting inclusion, assessing and supporting achievement and monitoring progress towards individual/school objectives.
  • Meet with parents and carers as part of maintaining positive relationships and the full implementation of the School’s values and ethos.
Main Duties:
  • To assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of learning programs and work plans
  • To promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the classroom and across the school
  • To encourage pupils to interact and work co-operatively with others whilst engaging in activities.
  • To promote independence and employ strategies to recognize and acknowledge achievement and self-reliance
  • To liase with external agencies and follow their advice for safety, learning and therapy programs, as appropriate.
