Shift Pattern: Full time - Monday - Friday, 09:00 am - 17:00 pm. 35 hours per week.

Their passionate team members create a supportive environment, fostering strong team spirit and collaboration.Main Purpose:As part of their multi/interdisciplinary team, you will provide speech and language therapy (SaLT) within their Neurobehavioural model for individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI). You will lead the SaLT provision, collaborating with internal and external professionals, family members, and those we support.Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
  • Apply the neurobehavioural approach to brain injury, utilising current research and best practices.
  • Manage and prioritise a caseload of individuals with complex mental/physical health needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Use evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate interventions.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to formulate rehabilitation goals, care plans, communication, and dysphagia therapy programmes.
  • Engage individuals in assessment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning, obtaining valid informed consent and working within legal frameworks when necessary.
  • Provide information about service users’ communication abilities and support needs.
  • Perform swallowing assessments and provide recommendations, care plans, and training for staff on dysphagia management.
  • Comply with risk management and safeguarding responsibilities, improving health and safety within the work area.
  • Maintain equipment and inventory, informing the service manager of any replacement needs.
  • Ensure registration with the Health and Care Professionals Council, adhering to portfolio requirements.
Other Responsibilities:Leadership:
  • Work autonomously and flexibly as a clinical professional in a specialist area.
  • Promote quality, effective working, continuous improvement, and change management.
  • Develop excellent working relationships through a collaborative model while respecting professional boundaries.
  • Lead in planning, developing, and evaluating SaLT services within a designated team.
  • Gather, collate, and analyse information to solve clinical and professional problems.
  • Network with local services to support referrals and act as a resource for signposting.
Evidence Research and Development:
  • Undertake research and audit projects relevant to SaLT and the organisation.
  • Participate in clinical governance and quality assurance, evaluating and improving work.
  • Contribute to meetings to ensure effective communication and decision-making.
  • Liaise with relevant clinical teams, departments, and support networks.
Facilitation of Learning:
  • Foster a culture of learning from mistakes through constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to the recruitment, training, and development of others.
