Are you passionate about scientific publishing?Are you an experienced Leader who enjoys supporting a dynamic team?About our TeamHeliyon, an all-science, open access journal that is part of the Cell Press family, seeks a Deputy Editorial Team Leader for a growing team in our Life Science division.About the RoleThis role involves recruiting, training, and managing an editorial team, supporting a scientific journal, and assisting the Editorial Team Leader. It offers skill development, collaboration, and exposure to the scientific community, along with potential career growth through various learning and development opportunities.ResponsibilitiesManaging, recruiting and developing a team of Editorial Section Managers within the Life Science divisionBeing highly proficient, independent and up-to-date in the work that Editorial Section Managers perform. Helping to ensure manuscripts are moving quickly through the editorial systemChampioning and leading key projects in the journal. Such as overseeing Heliyon’s correction process and improving our training and onboarding processesHelping the team to support absences and balance workloadsSupporting the academic editors and internal staff in the editorial process. Being a point of contact for resolving queries of the teamSupporting the Editorial Team Leader in the management of the divisionRequirementsHave a scientific backgroundHave existing management and (open access) publishing experienceBe enthusiastic, analytical and have exceptional attention to detailHave excellent English language skills with a focus on building great relationshipsShow creativity, have a willingness to experiment, and a desire to improveBe able to adapt to manage an internal team, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously and treat people professionally.
