- Lead the North American labor and employment legal function with nearly 10,000 covered employees.
- Maintain expert knowledge and awareness of legislation, regulations and caselaw with respect to US/Canadian employment and benefits to reduce business risk and ensure compliance within the limits prescribed by law.
- Provide practical, business focused advice to the Human Resources team with respect to labor and benefits matters including legal questions, process reviews, and policy creation, implementation and training.
- Partner with business and legal teams to determine strategy on entire spectrum of labor and employment issues.
- Direct and advise outside legal counsel during all phases of employment-related claims and litigation to protect CNH business interests; develop and guide strategy in conjunction with CNH objectives.
- Manage outside counsel, fees and case budgets; set and monitor appropriate reserves; recommend settlement and trial strategies.
- Review contracts related to hiring, consulting and employee benefits.
- Provide M&A transaction support regarding labor and employment due diligence, contractual provisions and acquisition integration.
- J.D. and a current membership with the appropriate state bar.
- Minimum 7 years related experience in-house and/or in labor and employment practice of major law firm.
- Experience either working for a manufacturing company or advising a manufacturing client.
- This position will be based out of our offices in Oak Brook, IL or Racine, WI.
- Hybrid work arrangement consisting of both in-person client contact and remote work.
- Demonstrated judgment guiding business teams through challenging issues.
- Proven experience providing guidance and advice to internal clients on hiring, employment, employee discipline, termination, handling of claims, training, policies and other Human Resources-related topics.
- Strong executive presence, paired with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to provide timely, practical solutions for business clients.
- Ability to work independently, exercise practical business judgment and meet concurrent deadlines.
- Willingness to respond to clients and counsel beyond regular business hours when needed.
