Responsibilities
  • Aircraft Mechanics I must have a combination of experience to repair sheet metal, structural, hydraulic, and general mechanical maintenance of moderate difficulty, required to meet the assigned missions. Makes repairs to aircraft and follows direction of higher graded workers. The Aircraft Mechanic I will troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls This mechanic repairs, replaces, and rebuilds aircraft structures, such as fuselage, and functional components including rigging, surface controls, and plumbing and hydraulic units, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment such as shears, sheet metal brake, welding equipment, rivet gun, and drills. This worker reads and interprets manufacturers' and airline's maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. Work involves replacing or repairing worn or damaged components, Job duties require that this mechanic adjusts, repairs, or replaces aircraft accessories, performs preflight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections, performs miscellaneous duties to service aircraft tires and checking brakes. Supervises the jacking and lowering of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies. May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. May require specialization in sheet-metal, other aircraft systems related disciplines.
  • • What You'll Do:
  • Airframe/Structural, Landing Gear, Pylon Fold, Flight Control Systems, and related Sub-systems
  • • Must be knowledgeable of technical directives, NAMP programs, and shall be knowledgeable of and understand basic supply procedures.
  • • Aircraft Mechanic I shall have experience writing with clarity and technical accuracy and ensure adherence to all applicable policies and procedures.
  • • Possess a high degree of expertise in the control and coordination of aircraft maintenance.
  • • Thorough working knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications.
  • • Working understanding of the aircraft and aircraft systems.
  • • Key Responsibilities:
  • Performs requirements in accordance with the procedures established in the PWS. Performs diagnosis and corrective actions, disassembles, inspects, evaluates, and accomplishes necessary repairs, lays out work according to technical instructions and technical directives. Determines what repairs, modifications, and part replacements are required. May be required to verify work performed by another for which he/she is qualified to perform.
  • • Performs aircraft maintenance functions of the Line, Corrosion Control, Tool Room and Aircraft Organizational Level maintenance and flight-testing support.
  • • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance support for assigned MH-60S aircraft.
  • • Performs inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, preservation/de-preservation services.
  • • Maintain aircraft and aeronautical equipment to continuously support the assigned SAR readiness posture outlined in in the activities SAR Plan and daily flight schedule.
  • • Aircraft maintenance action documentation via logs, records, forms, and electronic means
  • • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls.
  • • Use hand tools, power tools, machines, specific and general aviation test measurement, and diagnostic equipment.
  • • Read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, military technical manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, blueprints, manufacturers’ drawings, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.
  • • Flight Line operations/functions at detachment locations as required.
  • • Confined space operations to include fuel cell entry.
  • • Support Equipment (SE) operation and inspections

  • • Perform general housekeeping and organization of workstation(s), shop(s), maintenance facility to provide a clean, safe, and FOD free environment.
  • • Perform shift work and/or overtime as required.
  • • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be able to work 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or Weekend shift as required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required.
  • Must be able to provide maintenance support for actual SAR missions within two hours of notification for weekends, holidays, and before/after normal service hours as required.
  • Shall be able to travel in support of detachment operations as required.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, raise platforms, and work above and below aircraft.
  • Must be able to use hand and power tools.
  • Must have dexterity to handle small parts.
  • Must be eligible for a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience:
  • Three or more years experience performing airframe maintenance.
  • Three or more years of rotary wing maintenance experience
  • Attended H-60 Type Model Series Initial training course.
  • Paint, Final Finish Insignia (N-701-0014) and Aircraft Corrosion (N-701-0013) or equivalent
  • Previously certified Airframes, Corrosion Control, and Line Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI)
  • Previously certified Tire and Wheel
  • Previously certified Hydraulic Contamination
  • Previously certified H-60 Plane Captain
  • Previously certified H-60 Landing Signal Enlisted (LSE)
  • Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to become eligible for a Secret Security Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data system
