Working hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to FridayDuration: PermanentLocation: GloucesterJob Ref: 202428About the roleBenefact Group are looking for a Environment Manager to join our Gloucester office.Joining our rapidly expanding and innovative Group presents a fantastic opportunity to develop your career and become an integral part of an inclusive, purpose-led organisation.As an Environment Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the stability, availability, consistency and security of non-production environments across our organization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, oversee release processes, and maintain environment standards.Key responsibilities1. Environment Management
  • Environment Provisioning and Maintenance: Manage access and usage of all environments, ensure environments are consistent across the domain. Facilitate the provision of new environments.
  • Environment Roadmaps: Create and maintain environment roadmaps based on multiple project requirements, defining environment guidelines for consistency, and coordinating database and environment refreshes as needed.
  • Risk Management: Ensure adequate controls and checks are in place to quality assure software builds ahead of any production release, managing risks that affect the release scope.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate environment management objectives, concepts, and policies to stakeholders. Collaborate with stakeholders to plan releases to non-production environments, acting as a subject matter expert in environment management.
  • Process Design and Optimisation: Define, optimise and implement Environment Management policies, standards, tools, processes and procedures. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth updates, upgrades, and maintenance of all environments.
2. Release Management
  • Process Design and Optimization: Work with the Release Manager to define, optimize and implement Release Management policies, standards, tools, processes and procedures.
  • Release Coordination: Coordinate quality gate reviews on non-production environments based on predefined acceptance criteria. Work with stakeholders to ensure datasets are delivered into relevant environments prior to testing. Cover for Release Manager during absence.
3. Third-Party Collaboration
  • Release Strategy with Third Parties: Work with the Release Manager to define and agree upon a release management strategy with third-party vendors and relevant stakeholders.
4. Reporting and Metrics
  • Provide management reports on environment and software build configuration alignment, ensure consistency of software build configuration, monitor key performance indicators and metrics related to release activities.
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Proven experience in release and environment management.
  • Strong understanding of IT processes, change management, and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Git, and deployment automation tools.
  • Ideally a qualification in ITIL or similar IT good practice
