Users of the application go through various types of activities which use thousands of micro-steps with instant feedback on progress to individualize learning. This digital learning application is implemented within classrooms in multiple countries with the support of UNICEF country offices, including UNICEF Bosnia and Herzegovina. By implementing the Akelius digital learning application in non-formal and formal educational settings in Una Sana and Sarajevo cantons, UNICEF documented that using the digital application in a blended learning approach in classrooms was especially useful for personalizing learning and supporting children with diverse learning levels and needs. To continue supporting BiH authorities in the blended learning improvements, UNICEF will scale up the Akelius digital language programme to two schools in Tuzla Canon. The two identified schools have a high attendance of vulnerable students, including Roma girls and boys. Therefore, UNICEF aims to support schools with an effective and accessible digital solution to support inclusive quality language education.How can you make a difference?The purpose of this assignment is to design and implement a 1-day training programme for Tuzla Canton language teachers aiming to capacitate them with knowledge and skills to promote inclusivity in culturally diverse classrooms.The training programme should result with the following learning outcomes: * Teachers understand the importance of cultural responsiveness in education and its impact on student learning and well-being.
  • Teachers understand how their own implicit biases can impact the students and gain ideas on how to overcome them.
  • Teachers understand how to develop strategies for fostering cultural perspectives and experiences in the classroom setting.
  • Teachers can design a culturally responsive lesson plans and assessments to support diverse needs of their learners.
The consultant will be home-based and will deliver an in-person 1-day training in Tuzla tentatively planned for the week of 24th June 2024. The training will be paired with a 2-day training session on the usage of the Akelius digital language programme, which is not a part of this ToR.The main responsibilities of the consultant include (3 days of engagement in total): * Development of the training agenda (which also includes collaboration with the trainers for the Akelius digital language programme) (1 day);
  • Preparation of the training materials (0.5 days);
  • Facilitation of the training in Tuzla (1 day);
  • Conduction of the evaluation of the training through pre and posttests for the training participants (0.5 days).
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
  • Minimum BA degree in e in social sciences/humanities.
  • Experience in conducting cultural responsiveness capacity building.
  • Experience in conducting teacher trainings.
  • Fluency in English and BCS (Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian) mandatory.
  • Solid ICT skills, including the use of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, intercultural sensitivity;
  • Strong training facilitation skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
