- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive health and safety policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with Irish regulations and industry standards.
- Provide expert guidance and leadership on health and safety matters to project teams, subcontractors, and site personnel.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement, ensuring adherence to health and safety protocols.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
- Collaborate with project managers to integrate health and safety requirements into project planning, execution, and scheduling.
- Prepare and present health and safety reports to senior management, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders, highlighting key metrics, trends, and initiatives.
- Act as the primary point of contact for health and safety inquiries, providing timely and effective guidance and support to internal and external stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach junior health and safety personnel, fostering their professional development and growth within the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Managing Safely) is essential.
- Significant experience in a senior health and safety role within the construction industry, preferably with main contractors in Ireland.
- Thorough understanding of Irish health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Proven leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence and engage others in health and safety initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety audits.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and health and safety management software.
- Commitment to promoting a positive safety culture and driving continuous improvement in health and safety performance.
