and drinks, demonstrating barista craft, and other duties such as cash handling, cleaning, and maintenance.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Welcome customers, answer questions, and take orders for beverages and food.
- Accurately ringing in orders on POS system and writing on cups or bags.
- Preparation of foods such as sandwiches or baked items, brewed coffee and tea, espresso-based beverages, etc. and serving items to customers.
- Cleaning and restocking work and dining areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment and utensils.
- Learn about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality.
- Update signage and displays to attract customers.
- Take inventory and replenish items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality control.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent, one (1) year of food service experience, and one (1) year of barista experience; and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid King County Food Handler’s Permit.
- Basic proficiency in computer skills including ability to use Microsoft office, particularly word, outlook, and excel.
- Ability to listen patiently and attentively, ability to express self clearly and effectively, and the ability to adapt communication based on audience and purpose with inclusivity.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, within diverse teams and environments.
- Ability to employ best practices associated with the position, while displaying an on-going commitment to growth and self-development.
- Ability to adhere to attendance and punctuality standard.
- Ability to remain clam in a stressful, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to take in new information and perspectives to inform and adapt work.
- Ability to work a non-standard/flexible schedule, which may include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- This position is exposed to a typical café/coffee shop environment.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- This position is regularly required to stand for up to eight (8) hours or more, in close proximity to hot cooking elements.
- This position is occasionally required to use tools as well as operational controls such as on POS and espresso machines.
- This position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms and the ability to talk and hear.
- This position requires close vision and ability to adjust focus.
- This position may occasionally be required to lift and/or move objects up to fifty (50) pounds.
- This position may occasionally be required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
