You would be providing an Endocrine and Diabetes Service with a 1:5 acute medicine on-call commitment.Gibraltar is an Island which enjoys a lovely sunny climate. Schools follow the UK National Curriculum and the standard of education is very high, with performance averages consistently better than the UK. The crime rate is very low.The Gibraltar Health Service is not part of the UK NHS, although it is organised and run on very similar lines.St. Bernard's Hospital is an acute hospital, newly commissioned in February 2005, with about 170 in-patient beds, outpatient services, accident and emergency facilities, up-to-date diagnostic equipment and investigative facilities. It has a department of medicine with 7 consultant Physicians, each covering a medical specialty with 5 providing an acute general medical service, a general medical ward and medical investigation unit.The hospital has a Critical Care Unit serving the needs of patients needing coronary care as well as those with multiple organ failure or ventilation. It has four main operating theatres and a day surgery suite.
