Teaching Assistant Level 2 Job descriptionSt Martin’s CE Primary School is seeking to appoint a multi-functioning Teaching Assistant who can work in the classroom, both as a general TA and supporting a child with an EHCP, including some support across lunchtimes from September 2024. The position is fixed term initially until 31/08/2031 dependant on the children remaining in the school.The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working with children and will be able to supervise children and relate to them in a friendly and caring manner, whilst also being firm and fair. You will also be willing to develop your own knowledge and skills in supporting a pupil with physical sensory needs and medical conditions. You will need to be a good communicator and able to build strong relationships with both pupils and staff.Main duties include:
  • Working in the classroom supporting both as a general TA and supporting a child with an Education Healthcare Plan
  • Ensuring the safety, welfare and good conduct of the pupils during the midday break.
  • To supervise the pupils in the dining hall/ playground or the classroom depending on the weather, and organise games and activities accordingly.
  • First Aid duties and recording of accidents as per the schools policy.
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate:
  • Kind, caring and observant nature, whilst maintaining good order and discipline
  • Friendly
  • Patience
  • Ability to work in a team.
