This is a fixed term contract/secondment opportunity working in the Financial Assessments & Payments team for a 6-month period.We have a fantastic opportunity available for a Financial Assessment Assistant to join our proactive Financial Assessment team.As the Financial Assessment Assistant, you will provide customer and officer support in respect of social care services customers, in order to decide if a financial contribution is required, whilst maximising income for the Council and the Customer.We can offer a fantastic range of benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, a local government pension scheme, flexible working arrangements, discounts, and much more!Key responsibilities:
  • To carry out financial assessment reviews for 23/24 & 24/25
  • Carrying out CIS checks using DWP data, sending further information letters, reminders and chasing customers (phone/email)
  • A fixed term contract for 6 months to specifically focus on this work.
Other duties as needed are:
  • To Monitor team mailboxes, post received, send reminders and chase responses.
  • Support customers to complete financial assessment forms, arrange visits and assist customers to access our online portal.
  • To provide general explanations and support to colleagues and clients about charging policies and payment policies.
  • Respond to general enquiries in writing, face to face and by telephone, providing accurate information in easy-to-understand language.
Skills/qualifications/experience:
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good IT skills including Office software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Teams.
  • Ability to actively listen in order to extract and assess the important information.
  • Experience within a customer focused service providing excellent customer service.
  • Experience of administering processes to tight timescales and with a high level of accuracy.
  • Previous experience of working in an office environment Experience of working with vulnerable customers
