So, as well as providing end-of-life, respite care and bereavement support at our hospice, we also offer care and support at the point of need. Whether at our Lark Rise hospice, in the community, in hospital, or at home.Simply put, we’re here to brighten short lives, and support families, wherever they are.We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Head of Estates & Facilities Manager to oversee the effective management of the Facilities, Housekeeping and Catering services for the grounds of Lark Rise as well as our associated retail shops, ensuring each service meets the needs of the organisations, statutory obligations, and the strategic goals.This role is 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday with occasional need to work evenings and weekends for projects or events. You will also be required to be part of an on-call rota during unsocial hours.There will also be a need for you to travel across the East Midlands to our associated retails shops, you would be able to book and use a Rainbows’ car but would need to hold a full driving license to do so.About the roleResponsible for the line management of the Facilities Supervisor, Housekeeping Supervisor and Catering Manager.Responsible for setting and managing the budget for Facilities/Maintenance, Housekeeping and Catering as well as H&S across all areas of the hospice (including retail shops).Some of the key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
  • Manage and oversee key estate and grounds projects.
  • Responsible for ensuring all Rainbows buildings are compliant with health & safety and fire regulations.
  • Take accountability for overseeing the work done by the facilities and maintenance teams.
  • Responsible for the professional management of contractors, giving overall direction to the maintenance manager ensuring effective plans for scheduled maintenance are in place.
  • To be responsible for all hospice vehicles and to ensure that they are routinely serviced with records maintained and any ad hoc repairs are carried promptly at a competitive price.
  • Responsible for ensuring a high quality and standard of housekeeping and catering services throughout the footprint of the hospice to agreed timescales and adherence to relevant regulations and organisational policies e.g. COSHH, food safety standards.

RequirementsThis role requires you to hold a NEBOSH National Diploma or Institute of Workplace Facilities Management (IWFM) Level 5 or equivalent demonstrable experience. You will also have demonstratable experience of leading and managing a high-quality facilities management service and have the ability to accurately manage and report on Health & Safety, providing timely reports, analysis, interpretation, and advice.You will be a role model, able to demonstrate the achievement of results through and with others, creating buy-in by activity encouraging others to get involved and listen to their advice. You will also be able to delegate to and support the teams you oversee with a track record of being professionally confident and effective at building strong working relationships.It would be desirable for you to have experience working in the charitable sector, presenting complex information to Executive Directors/Board level and have a knowledge of project management methodology.Further requirements can be found by downloading the Person Specification.Our Benefits include:
