-Resubmit your Resume Today.We have started building our professional LinkedIn page.Job DescriptionBURN designs, manufactures, and distributes aspirational fuel-efficient cooking products that save lives and forests in the developing world.BURN has revolutionized the global cookstove sector by proving the business case for selling a high quality, locally manufactured and unsubsidized cookstoves.About the roleBURN is currently seeking a mission-driven candidate as a Design Fellow to support the New Product Development team in Ruiru Kenya.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conceptual and detailed design of cookware, improved cookstoves and accessories
  • Research and developing manufacturing processes including designing tools for production.
  • Fabrication of prototypes, including sheet metal forming, 3D printing and others
  • Testing concepts and prototypes in the lab and field
  • Support the design phase of the new pressure pot project.
Skills and Experience:
  • Engineering, product development, or industrial design background.
  • Experience working in the conceptual phase, physical prototyping, hands-on testing, and user interaction.
  • Ability to independently initiate and implement design and development of product features and production processes.
  • Good command of CAD software; SolidWorks.
  • Good understanding of material; Metals and plastics.
  • Familiar with basic tool shop equipment and tools, such as drill press, mill, lathe, etc.
  • Capable to manage workload and priorities of all assigned projects.
  • Project documentation skills.
  • 3D or 2D visualization skills either in product rendering or graphic design.
  • Goal-oriented.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Mechanical aptitude, understanding of product and process development.
  • Experience with sheet metal plastic part design.
  • Works well in a team setting.
  • Practical working experience.
