  • Lead and implement a best in class Compliance strategy focused on building, managing, and growing long-term partnerships with our clients.
  • Provide leadership support for a team of skilled Compliance Specialists through daily interactions, customer-first resolutions, and new business development strategies.
  • Advocate for our clients by championing continuous improvement initiatives and proactively communicating with the Senior Manager of Customs Compliance to improve service delivery and resolve issues.
  • Identify and proactively lead opportunities to integrate additional services, and new revenue opportunities, manage compliance verifications and perform post-Incident reviews
  • Track, analyze, and manage KPIs for continuous improvement
  • Work closely with the Operations, Client Services, and Sales teams to manage client needs and expectations as well as to define the scope and pricing of additional services to meet unique client needs.
  • Support other departments with compliance related questions in a timely fashion.
  • Make sure that all files are confirmed with CBSA each day.
  • Make sure that your team has data bases coded properly for PGA's and SIMA requirements.
  • Support and field weekend phone calls when necessary from both staff and clients.
  • Field and support after hours emails and phone calls from staff and clients.
QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Here's the expertise that you will bring to the role and to the Near North Group of Companies:
  • 5+ years of leadership experience building and supporting high-performance teams.
  • 5-10 Years of Customs Brokerage experience
  • You are experienced in dealing with trade and customs matters with a concentration in tariff classification, rules of origin, permits, SIMA, RIV, Food Safe License.
  • Must have the following designations: Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) and/or Certified Trade Compliance Specialist (CTCS.
  • Exceptional leadership attributes and abilities: Collaboration, communication, creative thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong business relationships both internally within the organization and externally with clients
  • A strong client focus to deliver positive outcomes
  • Highly motivated and self-sufficient, able to work successfully under pressure and in the face of ambiguity - proactively identify when it is necessary to take certain actions and move ahead with confidence
  • Preferred experience: Licensed Customs Broker
