Job DescriptionJob Title: Site Electrical Engineer (32254)Location: NorthwichSalary: £60,000-£70,000 per annumHours: 37 hours per weekContract / Permanent: PermanentSite Based / Office / Remote: Stublach Gas Storage, NorthwichStart Date: ASAPJob Overview:Responsibilities:Salary:Join our client's team as a Site Electrical Engineer and become a pivotal player in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the Stublach electrical and gas plant assets, the largest onshore natural gas storage facility in the UK.Collaborate with a dynamic Engineering and Maintenance team, where your expertise will drive continuous improvement and innovation.Responsibilities:
  • Operate, maintain, and enhance electrical assets to ensure reliability and availability.
  • Provide technical expertise in Electrical Engineering to support Operations & Maintenance activities.
  • Lead and mentor staff to foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Managing a varied workload with conflicting priorities, whilst keeping a focus on timely delivery
Experience / Skills:
  • 5+ years experience in operating and maintaining electrical systems up to 132kV.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in driving safety and operational improvements.
Relevant Education / Authorisation:
  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
  • Authorised by Responsible Electrical Engineer.
Electrical Expertise & Asset Management Experience
  • To achieve and maintain authorisation under the Electrical Safety Rules as an Authorised Person/Senior Authorised Person.
  • Liaise with Scottish Power and arrange switching operations at the 132 KV Lostock Sub-Station, understanding their electrical distribution maintenance activities and the implications for the Stublach site.
  • Monitor and arrange the electrical training for the Gas Plant Technicians.
  • Support to the Operations & Maintenance Teams in areas of Electrical Engineering: Electrical maintenance contracts specification, contractor interfacing and performance monitoring. Prepare technical documentation for electrical systems requisitions and perform contractor technical evaluations.
  • Provide Electrical expertise to the Stublach site. In conjunction with the Operations & Maintenance Teams, lead on defining the maintenance requirement of electrical equipment on site, considering cost criticality, strategic electrical spares and safety to ensure operational compliance and efficiencies are maintained. Ensure preventative maintenance routines are carried out to agreed schedules.
  • Act as single point of contact for site modifications (MoC) involving Electrical Systems and be Technical Safety Assessment leader when required.
  • Support the Gas Plant team for the project phase 2 handover, with a specific focus on electrical systems and MAN Compressors, and the handover acceptance criteria. Support the development and subsequent ownership of the MAN Contract, with particular focus on the electrical aspects such as the motor and ABB drive.
  • Deliver operational based electrical improvements that minimise downtime / maximise plant availability and gas plant reliability.
  • Define outage plans for electrical systems, taking responsibility for the any electrical based outage works.
  • Review and approve RAMS for electrical based maintenance work.
  • Monitor, oversee and audit electrical contractors carrying out electrical based maintenance work.
  • Act as the key point of contact for any electrical systems issues identified by the Shift Operations Team that could impact on gas plant availability and reliability.
  • Ensure electrical documentation is kept up to date and accurate.
Additional Maintenance
  • Act as the single point of contact for the GE Contract for the Compressors, Motors, Variable Speed Drive and Magnetic Bearings.
  • Responsible for Cathodic protection - Follow maintenance / monitoring plan, liaise with contractors (expertise and maintenance). Manage any remedial work.
  • Responsible for ATEX - Manage all ATEX inspection activities, ATEX compliance and ATEX equipment register. Manage any remedial work.
  • Responsible for the site UPS Systems - Manage the maintenance & testing of site UPS systems.
  • Responsible for site Earthing and Lightning Protection Systems - Manage the maintenance and system testing.
