- Lead and manage the engineering department, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency in maintaining the hotel's physical assets.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for the maintenance, repair, and improvement of all mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
- Plan and coordinate preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and ensure the uninterrupted operation of hotel facilities.
- Utilize a reverse engineering mindset to anticipate and mitigate potential issues before they arise, ensuring seamless operations.
- Collaborate with other department heads to prioritize and execute projects in alignment with the hotel's goals and budgetary constraints.
- Adhere to all required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, all outside contractor bids, budgets and schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, expenses, and equipment inventory.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements relevant to the field of hotel engineering.
- Follow prescribed safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and Health and Safety legislation.
- Responsible for the development and training of fire and emergency procedures for the hotel.
- Ability to work varied shifts and open availability for on-call emergencies
- Proven experience in a senior-level engineering role within the hospitality industry.
- Strong systems orientation with a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems.
- Strong understanding of facility management (sanitation, maintenance, operations)
- Certified in First Aid and WHMIS
- Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, boiler equipment, generator, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, painting, carpentry and finishing skills, kitchen & laundry equipment, energy conservation.
- Strong knowledge in emergency procedures
- Exceptional organizational and planning skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in computer software and systems, including maintenance management software, CAD programs, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the confidence to articulate ideas and strategies at a senior level.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while maintaining a customer-centric focus.
