Position SummaryThe UNMCCC Informatics group is looking for a person who can help solve a variety of Cancer Clinical and Research support informatics challenges.The UNMCCC Informatics group aligned with the Cancer Center missions' goals belowi. Better provider access to relevant patient clinical dataii. Integration of heterogeneous distributed clinical data assetsiii. Automated clinical data workflows: from capture to visualizationiv. Data queries and reporting to facilitate research and financial analysisThe candidate should have excellent analytical skills, be flexible to adapt different solutions and approaches to problems. Candidate should demonstrate experience using creative approaches to common programming problems. We will consider candidates with previous experience in the Health care environment as well as candidates with ability to adapt and learn in a new setting. We value teamwork and collaborative spirit, initiative and creativity.The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center is the Official Cancer Center of New Mexico and the only National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center in a 500-mile radius. Its 146 board-certified oncology specialty physicians include cancer surgeons in every specialty (abdominal, thoracic, bone and soft tissue, neurosurgery, genitourinary, gynecology, and head and neck cancers), adult and pediatric hematologists/medical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, and radiation oncologists. They, along with more than 600 other cancer healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, nutritionists, navigators, psychologists and social workers), provide treatment to 65% of New Mexico's cancer patients from all across the state and partner with community health systems statewide to provide cancer care closer to home. They treated 13,578 patients in 105,748 ambulatory clinic visits in addition to in-patient hospitalizations at UNM Hospital. A total of 1361 patients participated in cancer clinical trials, including 544 (40%) patients who participated in clinical trials testing new cancer treatments that include tests of novel cancer prevention strategies and cancer genome sequencing. The more than 102 cancer research scientists affiliated with the UNMCCC were awarded $36.2 million in federal and private grants and contracts for cancer research projects. Since 2015, they have published 930 manuscripts, and promoting economic development, they filed 136 new patents and launched 10 new biotechnology start-up companies. Finally, the physicians, scientists and staff have provided education and training experiences to more than 530 high school, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral fellowship students in cancer research and cancer health care delivery. Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree; at least 2 years of progressively responsible experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution and/or experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications· Experience developing complex SQL queries, including stored procedures, automatizations.· Experiences with relational databases (SQL server, Oracle-Exadata, Oracle MySql).· Strong data analysis, critical thinking and a keen eye to create compelling data visualizations.· Ability to maintain and enhance solutions (code, queries, reports) already in place.Technical knowledge:· Operating Systems: Windows· Reporting and Visualizations: Tableau, Crystal Reports or related· Databases: MS SQL Server, Oracle 12-19, Exadata, MySQL or related· Experience with programming: Ability to code in different languages (Python, Perl, Java, Javascript and JS frameworks).· Experience with API services.· Experience with portable data architectures (JSON, XML)· Health System Software: Mosaiq, CNExT, Velos, Cerner.· Document Management Systems: Docuware
