- Receive and respond to everyday enquiries from/to customers escalating requests outside their knowledge base to the appropriate person/area.
- Supervise and roster staff and ensure maintenance of staff record
- Assist with all aspects of presentation and service of foods, ensuring adherence to legislation including HACCP and allergen legislation.
- To promote a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and utilize selling techniques to benefit the customer and the catering department thus ensuring that budget targets are met.
- Use and understand EPOS till system and train others as required
- Update databases and spreadsheets and run standard reports as required
- Carry out routine record keeping, filing, photocopying and data entry to ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Run automated or routine reports to support established departmental information requirements
- To complete all administration as outlined by your line manager including cash declarations, stocktaking , ordering, wastage records etc .
- Provide essential administrative and/or support activities to contribute to the smooth operation of a work unit including training and induction of new staff.
- To attend meetings and training courses as required.
- To assist with the planning, organization and service of events and functions scheduled throughout the year.
- To assist with the maintenance of hygiene standards and cleaning in the department.
- Deputise for colleagues as required and represent the manager or department at meetings and events.
- Any other duties that arise from time to time as directed by the manager or nominee.
- To ensure a high standard of personal hygiene and be professionally presented at all times
- Diploma or professional qualification - desirable
- Full Haccp knowledge and food safety training - essential
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, e-mail and the web - essential.
- Familiarity with the work of the department and of the University
- Knowledge of Haccp , Food safety and allergen legislation
- Prior work experience in a relevant role.
- A strong commitment and track record in providing a high level of customer service in a busy environment.
- Experience in working with catering equipment
- Flexible approach to working hours as the demands of the post may require work outside normal office working hours from time to time.
