The Superintendent is responsible to lead and manage the on-site construction team and oversee all work on site while maintaining orderliness on site and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, training and supervision of field labor and subordinates; makes work assignments.
  • Assists Project Manager and Project Engineers in scheduling work, checks work for compliance with contract specifications; provides daily review and consultation on work methods and progress in the field and provides technical supervision in specialty areas. Ensures project schedule using P-6, P-3 or Microsoft Projects is updated as needed.
  • Schedules subcontractor work to coincide with general contractor; checks performance of subcontractor work; assures optimum utilization of labor force for subcontractor work.
  • Responsible for determining requirements for supplies, materials, and equipment; schedules delivery, distribution, and utilization thereof.
  • Is knowledgeable and utilizes production and equipment cost information done on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis against the project schedule.
  • Maintains constant communications with contracting agency (or owner, architect, or engineer) representative with respect to performance of the work.
  • Responsible for the profitability of project operations productivity.
  • Attends pre-job meetings with supervisory staff, foremen, stresses importance of production, quality, and cost on the project.
  • Maintain safe and fair working environment.
  • Assists with project documentation and preparation of final closeout report.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • 10 years' experience in construction with at least 5 of those years as a superintendent on projects similar in size and complexity.
  • Familiar with requirements of EM 385-1-1 and have experience in the areas of hazard identification and safety compliance.
  • Capable of interpreting a critical path schedule and construction drawings.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
